NetSys 220 Internet Technology (4) [cross-listed with CS 235]. Application layer Internet protocols, potentially including client/server, WWW, file sharing, group communications, Internet programming. Prerequisite: NetSys 201.

A review of TCP and UDP, followed by a selection of topics, drawn from the following list:

  • Client/server: architectures, proxy servers.
  • WWW: http, web applications, caching.
  • File sharing: peer to peer protocols & architectures.
  • Group communications.
